Gala

The SmilingOulu26 celebration gala will be held in Oulu in the Pohjankartano auditorium and lower lobby on June 10, 2026. The gala will award the winners of the photo competition and open an exhibition, which will later expand to Oulu, the surrounding areas and Andalusia.

The aim is to compare the experiences of minorities and lonely people in different countries and to consider how different

– or similar – they ultimately are.

The event program is diverse and inspiring.

A grand opening for a photography exhibition showcasing the best works from the competition.

The panel discussion will delve into the exclusion experienced by minorities and lonely people in plain language and how the situation can be improved.

The gala will feature musicians and performers from minority backgrounds, and the event will be streamed so that as many people as possible can participate.

The project promotes cultural dialogue, community, and social and ecological sustainability. It highlights solutions that can improve the well-being of minorities and increase the sense of belonging in Oulu, Finland, and Europe.
